Interchem's history
In 1968, the company was purchased by Irish Sugar a semi state company which was privatised in 1991 and became known as Greencore plc. In 2007, Pat O’Callaghan and Gerard Perry lead an MBO of Interchem. The company initially employed 12 people, the majority of whom are still employed by Interchem. Today, the company employs 30 and operates from a premises in Cookstown Industrial Estate, Dublin, a very accessible location from all parts of the country and a well-positioned distribution hub.
After 50 years in existence, Interchem is a well-recognised brand within the Irish agriculture and animal health sector. Since 2007, the business has expanded through both acquisitions and organic growth. It has expanded its business into complementary sectors of the animal health market by acquiring Pharvet in 2011 and Farrell Vet supplies in 2013. The company has exclusive distribution agreements with key global manufacturers and has a range of its own brands.

With technical, business and customer service focused teams, Interchem’s offering is unique in providing added value to customers. Our teams are uniquely positioned and focused on helping their customers identify and address the challenges they are facing.
Interchem run a number of educational initiatives for customers. Interchem has be hosting Irish run CPD veterinary webinars for 10 years. In 2022, Interchem ran 11 CPD veterinary webinars with over 1000 attendees. Interchem also run CPD seminars, lunch and learns, in practice training, on farm training days and one to one coaching.
Innovative solutions
Interchem’s quality range of products, many of which are market leaders in their segment include pharmaceuticals, biologicals, pheromonatherapy and animal nutrition.
In the past two years, Interchem launched new and innovative products in the market. The award-winning Eprecis, the first injectable eprinomectin; Zeleris, an injection which is a combination of florfenicol and meloxicam for cattle intended for therapeutic treatment of bovine respiratory disease and most recently a range of ruminant veterinary exclusive Oligovet boluses.
Our latest innovation is Precision Microbes. This provides a solution to address the challenge around antimicrobial resistance. The importance of addressing the challenge of antimicrobial resistance is now well-recognised. Precision Microbes is on the cutting edge of a “One Health approach” improving health using natural products applying applying cutting edge microbiome science to animals that is good for the environment and the food chain.

Interchem are proud Irish veterinary exclusive distributors of Specific Pet Diets who’s philosophy called the Circle of Good, is entirely centered around supporting the environment.
